Shimla: National BJP general secretary JP Nadda has become the front runner for the lone Rajya Sabha seat from Himachal even as the state selection committee chose to ignore Shanta Kumar by not inviting him for a meet that finalized a panel of three names for the ticket.
Speaking to media persons, BJP state president Satpal Satti said that there were three applicants for the Rajya Sabha ticket which included JP Nadda and Chander Sen from Kullu.
He said that the final decision lay with the BJP central command for selecting the candidate from Himachal.
However BJP sources said that a core party committee that met on Tuesday to finalize the candidate from the party chose to ignore senior leader and party vice president Shanta Kumar by not even inviting him for the meeting.
Secretary Vidhan Sabha has already set the election process for the set into motion by announcing March 19 as the last date of nomination and if need be, the election would be held on 30th March.
