Himachal govt fails to supply pulses for Shivratri : CPM

Shimla : The CPIM has strongly condemned the ruling Himachal Pradesh BJP government for failing to supply pulses to the ration card holders through PDS scheme across the state .

“Soon after the pulses scam rocked the state the government has withdrawn the purchase and supply of pulses to the people of the state’ , said Tikender Panwar senior CPM leader .

“Why are the people of the state forced to face the brunt of the wrongdoings of the officers and politicians . Why should the people be penalised for the ruinous policies of the BJP government ,” Panwar said .

The party has stated this is festival season in the state . Shivratri is a major festival of the state and is the biggest festival of the year in Mandi , Kullu , Shimla , Kinnaur , Sirmaur and Solan districts (on 20 Feb) .

People are not getting pulses for the last two months and the sugar quota has also been reduced from 700 grams to 600 grams .

The CPM has also alleged there is uneven distribution of supplies in the depots . It has demanded that pulses be supplies immediately along with adequate quantity of sugar , salt and other items .
