Shimla : Himachal Pradesh’s food and civil supplies department has ordered impounding of ration cards issued by the Shimla municipal corporation and then destroy them .
The state’s food minister Ramesh Dhawala has ordered his officials to confiscate and destroy around 1000 disputed ration cards many of these cards have already been issued by the Shimla civic body to the public .
The minister has directed issuing of new ration cards of the food and civil supplies in place of these disputed cards.
He explained that the Shimla municipal corporation cannot print ration cards on its own, these can be only issued by his department .
It maybe mentioned that the Shimla civic body is Congress controlled , while the state government is BJP run . Civic polls are due around June this year .
