Shimla: Veteran journalist Bishambhar Lal Sood, editor of the weekly, Parbat Kee Goonj, last night died of a massive heart attack.
Sood, 72, is survived by his wife, two sons and two daughters.
A career spanning decades, Sood is remembered for remaining steadfast to his principles and also contributed towards religious activities.
Besides the weekly, he also brought out ‘The Great Himalaya’, a monthly magazine. For a sign off, the latest edition of the magazine on the inside back cover carried a poem by the journalist “Aaj hai, Woh kal hoh nah hoh’.
People from all walks of life attended the funeral at the Kanlog crematorium.
Chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal, public works minister Thakur Gulab Singh, director public relations BD Sharma and president Himachal Journalist Forum, Kanwar Yogendra Singh among others have condoled the death of the seasoned journalist.
