Shimla: The Himachal High Court today concluded the arguments of petitioner union minister Virbhadra Singh and his wife Pratibha Singh seeking quashing of a corruption case filed against them.
After hearing the petitioners’ side, the division bench consisting of Chief Justice Kurian Joseph and Justice VK Ahuja posted the case for 23 December to hear the respondents’ side in the matter.
The corruption case is registered on the basis of a CD purported to contain the voices of Virbhadra Singh and Pratibha Singh.
On the basis of an audio CD released by former congress leader Vijay Singh Mankotia at a press conference at Dharamshala on May 28, 2007 alleging that it contained the voices of Virbhadra Singh, Pratibha Singh, a retired IAS officer Mohinder Lal and one KN Sharma (both now deceased), state vigilance bureau had investigated the allegations, registered a case, framed charges and the case is before a trial court, which is to hear the matter on 5th December.
Virbhadra Singh and his wife have petitioned the court for quashing of the corruption case, sought transfer of its investigation to CBI and have asked staying the trail court proceedings.
