Shimla : People woke up to a cloudy day in most parts of Himachal Pradesh Tuesday with chances of snowfall looming in the higher reaches of the state .
Shimla recorded a maximum temperature of 14.6 C and a minimum of 7.2 C Tuesday as clouds hovered over the hill station . It was a chilly night in Manali at 1.6 C , while it dipped to freezing point in Kalpa in tribal Kinnaur .
Srinagar capital of Jammu & Kashmir saw a bone chilling night with the mercury dipping to minus 1.8 C and to minus 7.8 C in Leh .
In neighbouring Uttarakhand’s state capital Dehradun recorded a minimum of 9.2 C Tuesday .
The weather man has released a forecast upto 8 Dec with snow and rain forecast at a few places in Himachal Pradesh , Jammu & Kashmir and Uttarakhand and other places in the western Himalayas region .
Rain and thundershowers have been forecast in Punjab & Haryana from Dec 6 onwards .
Fog with visibility less than 200 m is likely to affect Uttar Pradesh and Bihar .
Minimum temperatures are likey to fall by 3-4 degrees Celsius in the plains of northwest and adjoining central India.
