Chandigarh : Despite BSNL spending Rs 150 crore on the next generation fibre to home(FTTH) allowing high speed internet and many other advanced features the state run company has entirely failed to sell it to customers .
Reports said only 100 connections have been sold in the last almost one year across entire Punjab and none in Chandigarh . Even the handful of connections taken so far are by BSNL’s top officials .
FTTH provides not only high speed internet but also video and audio services , IPTV and VOIP besides phone services.
The high-tech FTTH cables were laid nine months ago across Punjab . Surely BSNL needs to answer a lot of questions .

the main reason for such a flop show? SUPER HIGH monthly rates of ftth eg. rs 80000 per month for 100mbps unlimited. prices need to come down atleast 10 times. i would happily pay 8000 rs. per month for a 100mbps or 1gbps per month
before investing crores of rupees in fiber infrastructure of ftth, bsnl should have done basic market research on people’s ability and willingness to pay for such high priced internet connections
