Shimla : Arch rivals BJP and the Congress have won a seat each in Himachal Pradesh’s bypolls for two assembly seats Sunday .
Election officials said the BJP’s Hirday Ram beat Vinay Kumar of the Congress in the Renuka(reserved) seat by over 3500 votes . Kumar is the son Prem Singh who won this seat six times .
In the Nalagarh seat Lakhwinder Rana of the Congress beat Gurnam Kaur of the BJP by over 1500 votes . Kaur is the widow of H.N. Saini who represented this seat three times .
Voting took place on Nov 30 with over 72 percent votes cast . The ruling BJP and the Opposition BJP campaiged hard in these bypolls as the state goes to assembly polls in a year from now .
