Kolkata : India’s stylish batsman V.V.S. Laxman showered praise on cricketing genius Sachin Tendulkar, who completed 22 years in international cricket Tuesday, saying it was an honour and privilege for him to play with the batting maestro.
“Great!! I am sure he will cross many more years for the country. Everyone knows what a legend he has been and what a match-winner he has been for the country for so many years,” Laxman said when asked about Tendulkar’s new achievement.
Tendulkar made his Test debut for India at Karachi, Pakistan, on this day in 1989.
“Words cannot describe what he has contributed to Indian cricket and to world cricket,” said Laxman, who has been sharing the Indian dressing room for years with Tendulkar.
“Personally, I think it is a great honour and privilege to play alongside Sachin and I and lot of our team-mates feel it’s a great honour to be playing with him,” he said.
