Shimla: To check crime and theft of vehicles, the Himachal Pradesh government has notified a scheme for High Security Registration Plates (HSRP) for all the vehicles in the State and selected Link Utsav Ventures; a Delhi based private company, as the vendor who will provide them, commissioner transport TG Negi disclosed today.
He added that though some anti-theft registration plates for motor vehicles containing some security features were available in the market but they were not in accordance with Central Motor Vehicles Rule (CMVR), 1989.
Link Utsav Ventures has been selected and approved vendor for sale and fixation of the plates, said Negi. These plates are required to be affixed in the premises of the registering authority i.e. Regional Transport Officer (RTO) and Registering and Licensing Authority (RLA).
The high security number plates would contain a number of security features like a permanent identification number of minimum seven digits which is laser branded on the bottom left hand side of the registration plate, a chromium based hologram hot stamped on the top left hand corner of the front and rear plates and use of a third registration plate in the form of self-destructive type chromium based hologram sticker to be affixed on the inner side on left hand corner of windshield, says the transport commissioner.
The new security number plates would be supplied to the vehicle owner from 15th November and all old vehicles are required to fix them within a two year period (before 14/11/2013), he said.

It is observed that the operating staff is not furnishing correct particulars to the Link Utsav as per record of RC of the vehicle, which may create complicacy at a later stage. They should be more particular in this respect.
