Tibet protests in Taipei

Dharamsala : Supporters of Tibet and ethnic Tibetans gathered in Taipei to remember a Tibetan monk who recently immolated himself while protesting against Chinese rule in Tibet .

Tibetans and Tibet support groups in Taiwan also marked the day by riding 49 bicycles in the city . The monks observed a minute of silence Sunday and remembered Tibetan martyrs for the cause of Tibet .

The event concluded with a brief speech by Dawa Tsering, representative of the Dalai Lama in Taipei , a spokesman of the Tibetan government-in-exile said in this hill town in northern India .
