Shimla : Police has arrested a man in a Bihar village who over a week ago allegedly murdered a 96 year old man in Shimla and escaped with a large sum of money and jewellery .
The 21 year old Aman Chaudhary was nabbed in Mangheli village of Kitihar district . The police team from Shimla with the help of Bihar police recovered Rs 889,157 cash , a gold and silver chain .
After committing the crime Chaudhary escaped in a taxi till Delhi and then took a train to Bihar . He was staying with a relative when the police party came knocking .
The accused had only been hired as a domestic help only a three days prior to the incident . For some reason the victim Amba Dutt had withdrawn around Rs 15 lakh the previous day from the bank . The 96 year old man lived alone in Shimla’s crowded Sanjauli area .
Amba Dutt happened to be the father-in-law of a former DGP of Himachal Pradesh who had hired the domestic help and sent him from Mumbai to look after Dutt in Shimla .
Police was tracking the killer’s mobile phone and his pictures taken by a CCTV camera retrieved from a bank in Shimla where Chaudhary had accompanied Dutt a day before the murder took place .
