Shimla : Nathpa Jhakri , the country’s largest hydro-electric project on Friday achieved a major milestone when it crossed collective electricity generation of 50000 million units(50 billion units ) of energy since commercial generation began eight years ago , officials of the project said .
“This year has been exceptional so far for the power station as it has generated more than 1000 million units of energy for five months in a row , said R.P.Singh chairman and managing director of SJVNL.
SJVNL , a PSU jointly owned by the Centre and Himachal governments runs the 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri project in Himachal Pradesh .
The project built on the Sutlej river has been running 5 per cent beyond capacity this year .
