Anna team going strong, will be revamped : Hazare

Ralegan Siddhi (Maharashtra) : Stating that Team Anna is going strong and will not to disbanded but only revamped, Anna Hazare Sunday said the members have decided to formulate a constitution for the anti-graft movement.

Announcing his decision through a written communication read out by Team Anna member Arvind Kejriwal, Hazare said: “In future, a constitution will be framed for the anti-corruption movement, following which the core committee will be revamped.”

“The constitution will spell out the provisions to decide members of the core committee and the working committee and their code of conducts. Whoever is found indulging in wrongdoing will be dealt with according to the provisions laid down in the constitution,” he added.

Kejriwal and other Team Anna members Prashant Bhushan and Kiran Bedi Sunday reached the social activist’s native village Ralegan Siddhi in Ahmednagar district to apprise him about the core committee meeting held Saturday in Ghaziabad.

Emphasising that Team Anna was strong and no one can break it, Hazare added that it was not right to disband the core committee.

“The core committee members will be united in facing challenges. Our fight will be on till the Jan Lokpal bill is passed,” he said.

He said the results of the Hisar bypoll had frightened the Congress and that is why the party was levelling allegations against his team members.

“If we flee the ground due to some allegations, it will erode the credibility of the movement and it is not good for the movement. Don’t bother about allegations,” the activist said.

Responding to media queries, Bhushan said the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) never approached any member of Team Anna on an organisational level to lend support to the anti-corruption movement.

Said Bedi, who also maintained that they have not been approached organisationally: “The RSS must have said that they support our movement and there is nothing wrong in it. Can you stop any citizen of India or the world in doing so?”

Putting up a united front, Team Anna said there were no differences among its core committee members and accused the Congress of trying to create rifts through a smear campaign.
