Shimla : Two trucks trying to smuggle out of the state a whopping 45 cattle were intercepted in Himachal Pradesh’s Sirmaur district,police said Tuesday.
The trucks were found passing on the Nahan-Jamta road near Nahan and were on way to the Haryana or Uttarakhand border.
Media reports quoting SHO Gurbax Singh said each of the trucks was carrying 23 and 22 cattle.
“The cattle had been stuffed so badly in the vehicles that 14 of the them had died of suffocation.The carcasses have been buried and the rest of the cattle have been sent to a stray cattle gosadan in Naraingarh †Singh said.
Both the trucks are from Haryana and the drivers have been arrested.
