SJVN hands centre Rs 213.33 Cr dividend

Shimla: Public sector power generator SJVN paid out a dividend of Rs 213.33 cr. to the central government which holds a 64.5% equity in the company.

Chairman cum managing director RP Singh along with other directors handed over the dividend cheque to Sushil Kumar Shinde, union minister for power at Delhi today.

Of the Rs 912.13 Cr profit earned by SJVN in 2010-11, the company at its AGM recently approved a total dividend payout of Rs 330.93.

For the 25.5% share the government of Himachal Pradesh holds in the company, the dividend earning to the state is Rs 84.40 crore and after shedding 10 percent equity through an IPO, the payout for public shareholders in SDJVN is Rs 33.20 crore, said Vijay Verma, spokesman of the company.

SJVN, which operates the country’s largest hydropower plant that has an generation capacity of 1500 MW, is already headed in the current fiscal for surpassing the record generation that it registered in 2010-11.
