Shimla :Having come under criticism for not providing proper treatment for thalassemia patients across the state, the Himachal Pradesh Thursday made some noise to accept the problem.
A short release by the state’s health department Thursday said the state government has issued directions to the health department to provide beds to thalassemia patients in state and district level hospitals on priority.
At least two beds will be provided for these patients in every such hospital.
The spokesman said blood would be provided to such patients by the hospital authorities.Free medicines and treatment facilities are available to such patients.
Thalassemia is an inherited blood disorder in which the body makes an abnormal form of hemoglobin, the protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen. The disorder results in excessive destruction of red blood cells, which leads to anemia.
