Shimla: Superintendent police (SP) of Kullu and two others were issued contempt notice on Tuesday by Himachal Pradesh High Court for disobeying court orders.
In response to a writ petition (No 2697/2011) filed by Budeshwar Gaur, Justice Rajiv Sharma also divested Dinesh Lata Guleria, assistant town planner Kullu and Mohinder Singh, chief executive officer Kullu municipality of all their powers.
In the notice the court has asked why contempt proceeding against Abhishek Dhullar SP Kullu and the two others should not be initiated for not doing a spot inspection at a construction site within the stipulated time frame that the court had directed in 29, April, 2011.
Gaur had petitioned the court illegal construction was being done by one Vimal Sharma, to which the court had directed for for stoppage of the construction work and a spot inspection be done the SP, the town planner and the municipality head.
The court had also asked all three of them to file affidavits about what steps had been taken to stop the work.
Having divested the assistant town planner Kullu and chief executive officer of the municipality of their power, the court also directed principal secretaries of the two departments to grant the powers to other eligible persons so that the public did not suffer.
