Shimla : The HP state cooperative bank claims to have taken a lead and become the first cooperative bank in the country to start core banking or anywhere and anytime banking facility .
This was stated by Chander Mohan Thakur, chairman of the bank here Saturday while presenting a dividend draft of Rs 57 lakh .
The bank’s turnover has crossed Rs 7000 crore during the last fiscal year . It has also earned a profit of Rs 82 crore .
“In an effort to keep pace with modern banking the coop bank has already opened 27 ATMs .50 more ATMs would be opened soon ,†Thakur said .
“Our network is expanding and 175 branches are functioning in the state most are located in villages . One branch is located in Delhi’s Azadpur market for the benefit of the farmers of the state,†he said .
The state chief minister P . K . Dhumal underlined the need for expediting recovery of loans advanced to individuals and companies . He congratulated the bank for reducing non-productive assets from 15 per cent to 9 per cent .
