Shimla : Shimla and its surrounding areas were struck by heavy showers along with unusually loud claps of thunder Thursday evening.
The sun was out earlier in the day and the maximum temperature recorded in the city was 23 C. But heavy dark clouds suddenly gathered and it began pouring after 4 P.M. bringing life to a stand still in the hill station.
Thick fog enveloped the town reducing visibility to only a few metres causing several traffic jams at many places.
Rain has been reported from most parts of the state.
The weather man has forecast heavy rainfall at isolated places during the next 24 hours.
