Shimla: Central government tourism ministry has sanctioned Rs 22.50 lakhs for installation of information kiosks for meeting the needs of tourists in the state.
The funds have been sanctioned under the tourism ministry IT scheme, said Arun Sharma, director tourism.
Financial assistance of Rs 20 lakhs has already been released and the rest would be made available as reimbursement after the sanctioned amount is utilized, he added.
The IT kiosks would be rolled out within 6 months, said the tourism director.
Tourist related information such as important destinations, weather, hotels, railway and bus bookings and other related information would be provided by the IT kiosks.
