Shimla: Of the new private universities being set up in Himachal Pradesh, senior functionaries of Maharishi Markandeshwar University, Kumarhatti Solan said that an expert committee from AICTE has approved the Engineering & Technology, Management and Computer Technology at the newly established campus.
Vice chancellor Dr RP Bajpai said that the expert committee from All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) had visited the campus on 24th May, 2011 and has approved B Tech Computer Technology, Computer Science & Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering and Management of Business Administration courses at the new university.
He said that among the newly established self financing universities it was among the first to obtain AICTE approval these courses.
having drawn up plans for an intake of 400 students in the current year, Bajpai said that quality of students intake would not be compromised and admissions would be given on the basis of AIEEE examination, the counseling for which is to be conducted.
The sponsoring Trust of Maharishi Markandeshwar University Trust, Ambala is also setting up a Medical College at the Kumarhatti campus which will have a 750 bedded hospital.
As part of the establishment, a 300 bedded hospital is fast coming up that will be expanded to a 750 bedded one, said the VC of the private university.
The hospital is expected to become functional by Feb-March 2012, he added.
Laying emphasis on quality, the vice-chancellor said that only those institutions will survive which provide quality education; others would perish to the intense competition in the field.
