The Himachal Pradesh government on Monday requested the Central government to direct the railways authorities to continue the existing arrangement of fertiliser supply to the state from the Chandigarh railway station.
In a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, the state chief minister P.K.Dhumal said the Railways has decided to terminate the fertiliser facility from Chandigarh to Himachal after June this year.
From next month an out agency of the railways has been advised to handle the fertiliser movement from the Kiratpur railway station in Punjab.
Dhumal said if the fertiliser supply was routed from Kiratpur it would delay the movement of fertilisers to Shimla,Solan,Sirmaur and Kinnaur districts of the state.
He said the present arrangement of rake handling from the Chandigarh railway station was working smoothly and an out-agency of the railways was handling the supply from here to the full satisfaction of the state government.
