Shimla:Â Stage is set for host team of Bishop Cotton School (BCS), Shimla to play out arch rival Lawrence School Sanawar in the semi-final of the 11th RK Von Goldstein T20 Inter School Cricket Tournament to secure a place in the final to be played on Saturday.
BCS put up a total of 115 runs for seven wickets to beat St Edwards were able to score 109 for five wickets in the quarter-final match that was reduced to 10 overs due to inclement weather. With Bipatsu Thapa of BCS being the top scorer with 79 runs, the team beat St Edward School, Shimla in the Pool A group by 7 runs.
While BCS meets arch rivals Lawrence School Sanawar in the semi-final, the two other teams to make it to the last four are Sonabeda Public School, Orissa who play with Durga Public School, Solan for a slot in the finals.
In all there were ten teams who participated in the tournament. Besides the four who have made it to the semi-final the other who participated include The Assembly of God Church School, Ukhra; The Assembly of God Church School, Sodepur; Vasant Valley, Vasant Kunj, Delhi; Mahbert High School, Siliguri;; Bishop Cotton School – B Team and St. Edward’s School, Shimla.
The semi-final and final play out are scheduled for the weekend. Last year BCS had won the tournament by defeating Lawrence School Sanawar in the final.
Held in the memory of Major RK Von Goldstein, who was the last foreign headmaster (1964-1976) of BCS, a public school founded in 1859, the tournament started in 2001, is supported by Shimla District Cricket Association.
