Shimla: Police in Rohru have registered a rape case against a minor and our on the lookout for the accused, who is absconding, fearing arrest for the crime.
Police officer Shiv Kumar Sharma said that a rape case had been registered on the statement of Seema (name changed), a 17 year old resident of Jubbal village in Shimla district.
The complainant let the police know that she had come to Rohru market on Sunday for purchasing books when she met one Lalit Manta, a resident of Jagtan village.
After treating her for tea at a local Dabha, the victim was taken to a hotel room where the accused physically assaulted and sexually abused her.
Medical examination of the victim has been conducted and rape has been confirmed, said Sharma. No arrest has been made as the accused is absconding, said the police officer.
With the accused said to be doing a job at Chandigarh, teams have been dispatched to the native village and Chandigarh in order to apprehend the culprit, he added.
