Shimla: At a naka check in Ropar Punjab, police detained a driver who was without papers only to learn that the vehicle had been stolen from Deha under Theog police station in Shimla district.
Two thieves Balbir and Dev Raj have been arrested in the case.
SHO Theog, Baldev Thakur said that on finding a relatives vehicle parked overnight near her house missing on Thursday morning, one Sushma had registered a complaint about the vehicle having been stolen by unknown persons.
District police chief Sonal Agnihotri said that a phone call from the police officer at Ropar Naka about verifying the antecedents of a driver whose vehicle was without accompanying papers led to the recovery of the stolen vehicle.
A investigating team had been dispatched to Ropar that would also recover the stolen vehicle, said SHO Theog.
