Shimla: Senior police officer KK Indoria was put under suspension today after the vigilance bureau prima facie has established his involvement in allegedly taking graft money from power companies operating in Kullu valley.
Principal secretary home Narinder Chauhan confirmed about the police officer having been put under suspension. “Under All India Service rules IPS officer KK Indoria has been placed under suspension,†said Chauhan.
The matter pertains to a time when the officer was serving as SP of Kullu district and is said to have collected payments from some companies executing hydropower projects in the area under the garb of providing them police protection for carrying out their activities.
The companies were said to be facing resistance from environmentalists and residents.
Investigators had earlier arrested and interrogated one Ramesh Volga, a photography shop owner in Kullu, and found leads of payments made into an account of a stone crusher firm based out of Damtal in Kangra district.
Investigators say that the money was routed through Volga, into whose account managers of the companies deposited the large amounts, with cheque traced said to be over Rs 5 lakhs.
Managers of two power companies have also been questioned by investigators.
