Nirankari Mission in Himachal donates 410 units of blood

Shimla: With the Sant Nirankari Mission sponsored blood donation camp drawing 410 volunteers who donated blood to mark Manav Ekta Divas at The Ridge ground today, it is perhaps the highest units of blood donated at any camp till date in Himachal.

The mission had organized the camp in memory of former head Baba Gurbachan Singh.

Organized with the help of doctors from blood banks of IGMC and Kamla Nehru hospitals, the camp was inaugurated by Madhu Sud, mayor Shimla Municipal Corporation.

On the occasion the mayor lauded role of the mission in rendering social services to the society which included organising cleanliness drive, blood donation camps, cardiac camps, conducting mass marriages and other services.

Member of Sant Nirankari Mission, Rajwant Kaur on the successful holding of the camp said that, “present Guru Baba Hardev Singh is an inspiration to the donors as he himself along with other family members volunteers to who donated for the noble cause.

He encourages all followers to follow suit by saying, “one should not loose life owing to shortage of blood.”

Spokesman of the mission Ram Krishan Sharma disclosed that Sant Niran Kari Mission in 1993 had donated 367 units of blood.

At today annual camp we have broken our own previous record in voluntary blood donation,” said Sharma.
