Shimla: Police on Friday nabbed Gulab Singh, a resident of Ghunda village in Kotkhai for illegally possessing large quantity of country and English liquor.
Acting on a tip off, a raiding team led by assistant sub-inspector Daulat Ram also recovered 200 grams of opium and 150 grams of charas from his possession.
A police spokesman said that the tip off had alerted the police about Daulat Ram illegally selling alcohol and drugs.
Police recovered 540 bottles of country liquor, 60 bottles of beer and 12 bottles of whiskey from the bootlegger that were stored in a room. The liquor had Chandigarh markings and was smuggled into the state, said the police.
The charas and opium was recovered after the police team searched the house of the Daulat Ram.
The culprit has been arrested and case under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) and excise act has been made out against him, said the police spokesman.
