Shimla: Investigators questioned senior police officer KK Indoria about alleged graft money obtained from power companies having found its way into his accounts while he was serving as an SP of Kullu-Manali district.
An IG rank officer Anurag Garg grilled Indoria on Saturday. Indoria only joined the investigation after having obtained an interim bail from Himachal Pradesh High Court on March 1. An anticipatory bail application comes up for hearing on March 10.
Following arrest and interrogation of Ramesh Volga, a photography shop owner in Kullu, investigators found leads of payments made into an account of a stone crusher firm based out of Damtal in Kangra district.
Late on Saturday evening, a team of investigators from vigilance department raided the home of Indoria in Kangra district. “We do not want to reveal anything yet as it may hinder the investigations,†said KC Sadyal ADGP vigilance.
The matter pertains to a time when the officer under investigation was serving as SP of Kullu district and is said to have collected payments from some companies executing hydropower projects in the area under the garb of providing them police protection for carrying out their activities. The companies are said to be facing resistance from environmentalists and residents.
Investigators say that the money used to be routed through Volga, into whose account managers of the companies deposited the amounts. One cheque traced is said to be over Rs lakhs.
Managers of two power companies have also been questioned by investigators.
