Shimla: Chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal launched the 2nd phase of census operation from his native village Samirpur in District Hamirpur by filling up the prescribed form and providing all required details to the enumerators today.
Appealing to citizens about provide factual information to the enumerators approaching them he asked them not to conceal any information.
Factual information provided by the people would help in formulation of future developmental plans, said Dhumal, as the information collected was instrumental for preparing policies and programmes.
Announcing the start of second phase of Census-2011 Balbir Tegta, director census Himachal said the operation that started today would be spread out over 9 districts and would be completed by 28th February.
In all more than 13,000 enumerators and supervisors have been deployed to undertake the decadal population enumeration in the districts of Chamba, Kangra, Mandi, Kullu, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Una, Solan and Sirmour. The count would be done in 58 tehsils, 25 sub-tehsils, 45 urban local bodies and 14,132 villages, he said.
