62nd Republic Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and fervour throughout Himachal Pradesh today. Functions were organized at State, District, and Sub-Divisional level to mark the occasion. Hoisting of Flags, impressive march-past, cultural programmes were highlights of the functions organized throughout the State.
State-level function was held at the historic Ridge Maidan here today. Mrs. Urmila Singh, Governor unfurled the National Flag and took salute at an impressive march-past presented by the contingents of Police, ITBP, Home- Guards, Army Regiments, NCC and Ex-servicemen. Captain Santosh Bharmouria of 7/11 Gorakha Regiment commanded the parade.
Tulsi Ram, Speaker, H.P. Vidhan Sabha presided over the function in Hamirpur.
Gulab Singh Thakur, Public Works Minister presided over in Una and congratulated people on this auspicious occasion.
The Minister honoured those who had done remarkable in various fields. He also honoured Avineesh Kumar Sharma, Temple Officer, Chintpurni, ASI Shri Jagvir Singh, Head Constables Sanjay Sharma and Harish Kumar for their dedicated services.
Presiding over the function in Kullu, I.D. Dhiman, Education Minister said that a sum of Rs. 3.51 crore was being spent for beautification of Mall Road, Manali so as to attract tourists.
Presiding over the function at Solan, Shri Ravinder Singh Ravi, Irrigation and Public Health Minister said that since the inception of the State, it had made tremendous progress in every sphere. He said that today per capita income had increased from Rs. 240 to more than Rs. 49,000 and the State had touched literacy rate of 84 percent.
Kishan Kapoor, Industries Minister presiding over the function in Nahan. Kapoor said that at present there were 1493 industrial units in district Sirmaur out of which 1403 were micro and small industrial units whereas 90 were of medium and heavy industries.
Narender Bragta, Horticulture Minister presiding over the function in Bilaspur said that as many as 33642 persons had been provided job during last three years in the government sector.
Presiding over the function in Mandi, Dr. Rajeev Bindal, Health Minister said that Atal Swasthya Sewa Yojna was recently launched in seven districts of the State and it would be launched in Mandi district on 25th March, 2011.
Presiding over the function at Rekong Peo, Mrs. Sarveen Chaudhary, Social Justice and Empowerment Minister said that financial assistance under Mukhyamantri Kanyadan Yojna for girls of poor families had been enhanced from Rs.5000 to Rs. 11,000 and under Beti Anmol Scheme a sum of Rs. 5100 would be deposited in the name of upto two girl child of BPL families which would be available under attaining age of 18 years.
Presiding over the function at Dharamsala, Jai Ram Thakur, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister said that during current financial year a sum of Rs. 391 crore had been spent under MNREGA till December last and 3,29,215 families had been provided 100 days employment under the scheme.
Mahender Singh Thakur, Transport Minister presiding over the function at Chamba said that new air-conditioned bus service would be started between Chamba to New Delhi during the onset of summer season.
Virender Sharma, Sub Divisional Magistrate presided over the function at Keylong. Speaking on the occasion he said that a plan outlay of Rs. 78.20 crore had been earmarked for Lahaul-Spiti district during the current financial year under Tribal Sub Plan out of which Rs. 41 crore had been allocated for Lahaul Division alone.
