Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh under 14 boys cricket team has entered the Dhruv Pandove North Zone championship being held in New Delhi.
Being organized under the aegis of Board of Cricket Control of India (BCCI), the championship held in a league format began on 20th November and had teams from Delhi, Jammu & Kashmir, Haryana and Punjab participating in the competition.
In the first match, Himachal beat Jammu & Kashmir on the basis of first inning scores where the team of Himachal scored 394 runs all out and J&K could only muster 296 runs. The highlight of the game was the competitions highest individual score of 180 runs by Abhimanyu Singha.
In the second game with Haryana, the boys from Himachal scored 118 all out and Haryana team was bold out for 59 runs only.
In the third game Himachal lost to host Delhi who scored 257 whereas the hill boys ended the innings with 139 for 9 wickets in the allotted 95 overs.
In the fourth match Himachal beat the Punjab boys thoroughly with Punjab batting first scoring 110 runs. In response the Himachal team piled up 261 runs all out.
Nitin ripped through the Punjab’s first innings taking 4 valuable wickets for 45 runs and Abhimanyu Singha top scored with 69 runs.
In the second innings Punjab could muster only 88 runs. Chahat had a field day taking 7 wickets for 18 runs and Sugam taking the remaining 3 wickets for 18 runs. Punjab lost the match by 63 runs.
With Delhi leading the tally followed by Himachal, the final is to be played on December 5th and 6th, Mohit Sood, spokesman of HP Cricket Association (HPCA) said.
