Joint Management Entrance Test (JMET-2011) is an entrance exam for admission in to Post Graduation management courses in IITs for students having an UG engineering degree or Master’s degree in science. Since the management courses in IITs are only for engineering and Post Graduate Science students, the management courses are specially designed for them. This entrance test includes multiple type questions and also has negative marking for each wrong answer.

The students have to first clear the entrance exam and then have to face various tests which are conducted by the respected institutes. IITs are amongst the well recognized and highly demanding institutes of India. Though IITs are primarily premium engineering institutes but still due to brand name and credibility the management courses in IITs are also considered to be prestigious by companies. Presently management courses in IITs are available in IIT Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Kanpur, Kharagpur and Roorkee. In addition to IITs, NIT calicut also uses JMET scores for admission in its MBA program.

All the IIT’s are providing all the facility including hostels, library and gaming facility. They can also provide facilities to the candidates to do the project works in various organizations. The institutes also provide computer, library and internet facility to its students.
Availability of forms:
The online application form will be available in the month of September and have to be submitted within the mid of October. The applicants have to fill the application form with all necessary instructions provided in the form.

Last Date for online application: 2nd week of October, 2011
Last Date for receipt of printed form: mid week of October, 2011
Announcement of results: first week of January, 2012
Eligibility Criteria for JMET Exam:
In order to be eligible for admission through JMET a candidate should have an engineering degree or a Master’s degree in Science with at least 60% aggregate, though there is a relaxation of 5% for SC/ST candidates. Candidates in their final year can also apply for provisional admission subject to the completion of their qualifying degree.
