Shimla: EMC Corporation, a leading company in information infrastructure solutions and National Institute of Technology (NIT) Hamirpur today inked and MoU to address emerging knowledge gaps in storage technologies and develop a pool of trained storage professionals.
The agreement was signed by Krishna Kant, senior program manager with EMC’s Academic Alliance Program and IK Bhat, director NIT.
Speaking about the collaboration, Kant said “digital information is growing at an explosive rate and organizations in India are struggling to manage this growth. In the background of this information deluge, there is a huge dearth of skilled storage professionals in the country today.â€
Bhat added , “NIT Hamirpur is committed to provide quality technical education and storage has emerged a promising career for students.â€
Under this program, NIT Hamirpur would offer a course in information storage technology as an Elective course for all Computer Science and IT students.
The institute would receive vendor-agnostic curriculum, course content, learning materials, faculty trainings, and software simulators to provide training to their students. EMC would also provide program support in terms of examination papers and sample assignments.
Besides NIT Hamirpur, EMC has tied up with 150 other institutions in India, which include NIT Warangal and NIT Suratkhal.
Listed on the New York Stock Exchange, EMC Corporation began its India operations in 2000.
NIT Hamirpur is a leading institute of Himachal that has been granted a Deemed University status.
