Shimla: To encourage higher research, Indian Institute of Advanced Studies announced a steep increase in grants for a fellowship at the institute of higher learning.
The monthly grant for a national fellow has been increased from Rs 25000/- per month to Rs 60,000/- per month, said Ashok Sharma, the institute spokesman. For independent scholars, the fellowship has been increased from Rs 10,000 to Rs 47,000 per month, he added.
Conceding a long pending demand of the institute, ministry of Human Resource Development has revised the fellowship grants for scholars with the institute that has come into effect from 1 June, said Sharma.
With the upward revision in fellowship grants, the institute expect to attract more scholars from India and abroad.
