Shimla: Vigilance sleuths on Friday nabbed an administrative officer travelling on a transfer posting from interior of Chamba district with unaccounted Rs 11.90 lakh in hard currency.
Pritam Singh, SP Vigilance (North) over phone told My Himachal News that on prior tip-off, vigilance had laid out a nakka to check the vehicle of Dev Raj Singh, an HAS officer, who on transfer from Tissa and was heading to Palampur, his hometown.
“At Tununj Hatti in Chamba district, the car (HP-44A-0029) was stopped and was checked. In the car’s boot a suitcase was found that had Rs 11.90 lakh cash,†said Pritam Singh. The officer has been arrested and source of the cash is being investigated, he added.
Dev Raj Singh, the 55 year old HAS officer was under transfer and was take up his new posting in Hamirpur district. However before joining his new place of posting the HAS officer was heading home to Palampur before he was nabbed with the unaccounted cash, said the vigilance officer.
Traveling with Raj Dev in the car was a Tehsildar. The revenue official has taken a lift from the official under transfer.
