Shimla: Police late on Monday seized over 19 kilograms of charas valued at over Rs 20 lakhs on the contraband market from a jeep at Dhalli, on the outskirts of Shimla city.
Led by Brajesh Sood, DSP, a police party acting on a tip off stopped the vehicle and conducted a search. Packed in polybags, a quantity of 19 Kgs and 300 gms of the contraband psychotic material was recovered.
The five persons traveling in the Bolero jeep have been arrested and the vehicle impounded, said Brajesh Sood.
The vehicle was on its way from Aani in Kullu district to Shimla. A case has been registered and investigations initiated to track down the supply chain for such a large catch of Charas, police said.
