Shimla: State congress chief Kaul Singh Thakur today asked the government to focus on governance instead of targeting political opponents by using the police to frame cases against them.
Speaking to the media Thakur held that “the BJP government was using the police and vigilance agencies for framing Congress leaders and workers rather directing them to nab criminals.”
Asking the chief minister to desist from using state forces for settling political vengeance, the congress president said that BJP government’s did always compromise with corruption.
Citing the issue of the government reinstating two senior officials despite serious charges against them and against the advice of a senior level committee head by the chief secretary, Kaul Singh said “the government and BJPs resolve for zero level tolerance towards corruption stands exposed.â€
In response to a query about his alleged involvement in a scam over construction of road in Drable in Shimla district, over which over-costing has been questioned, the congress chief said the government has brought charges against the persons involved and his name does not figure in the list.
He said that if the government was serious in rooting out corruption, the chief minister should hand over charge sheets brought out by both BJP and Congress party’s from time to time and hand them over to Central Bureau of Investigations (CBI) for investigations.
