Shimla: A team of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) sleuths today raided senior suspended IPS officers BS Thinds house at Chandigarh in connection with investigations related to a disproportionate asset case.
Confirming the CBI raid, R Upasak, SP CBI, Shimla said that a raid had been conducted at Thinds house in Chandigarh as well as at his in-laws house in the same city.
A disproportionate asset case has been registered by CBI Shimla against BS Thind, a 1974 batch IPS officer on the basis of a complaint about his alleged disproportionate assets to his known sources of income.
Upasak refused to divulge details about the raid or what had been recovered during the search operation.
Thind, an Himachal cadre officer, was suspended by the government in Februrary after being a graft case was lodged against him by the Parwanoo police. At that time he was posted as additional director general of police (ADGP) with Lokayukta.
The graft case pertained to a complaint filed by Ashok Mittal, a Parwanoo businessman, who alleged that money had been sought from him to get his rented business premises vacated.
On the other hand Thind has filed an affidavit with the HP Lokayukta, levelling serious charges against chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal, CBI director Ashwani Kumar and two other senior police officers of Himachal police.
