Shimla: About 18 people, including five children, were feared dead when a bus skid off the road and fell into a 100-foot-deep gorge near Haripur town in Himachal Pradesh’s Kangra, today, said the district police said.
The private bus that was on its way from Jassur to Dera when it fell into the gorge near Haripur town at around 10.55 a.m., said the police Kangra police spokesman.
Initial reports indicate that at least 18 people, including five children and seven women, have been killed in the morning accident, he said.
The dead toll could rise as some reports put the number higher at 30 dead.
Haripur is 50 km from the district headquarter town of Kangra, which is almost 250 km from state capital Shimla.
