Shimla: In the face of opposition from party cadres congress nominee Manjit Singh Thakur, a resident of Kotsari village in Rohru filed his nomination papers for the November 7 election to be held for the seat that fell vacant after former chief minister Virbhadra Singh was elected to parliament in May.
The set of nomination papers were presented before returning officer BR Kamal at Rohru, an communiqué from the election commission stated.
For the Jawali constituency, where also a bye-poll is to be held, Ashok Kumar Somal a resident of Junat village from Fatehpur tehsil filed his nomination papers as an independent candidate.
Somal presented his nomination papers before OP Thakur, the returning officer for the constituency at Jawali.
