Shimla: In a function organised at Raj Bhawan on the occasion of ‘Teachers Day’ Himachal Governor, Prabha Rao, bestowed State Award 2009 to eight teachers of the state for their significant contribution in their field.
Speaking on the occasion she stressed upon the important role played by teachers in building overall personality of the students by teaching moral values, patriotism, side-effects of drugs menace, etc.
Those who were awarded are Susheel Pundir, Principal, GSSS, Soldha, district Bilaspur; Ashwani Kumar, TGT, GSSS, Dehlan, district Una; Smt. Amar Lata Thakur, TGT, GHS, Prohi, district Bilaspur, Shri Man Singh Rana, PET, GHS, Samirpur, district Hamirpur, Bir Singh, PET GSSS Irra, Tehsil Chopal, district Shimla, Geeta Ram, Centre Head Teacher, GPS, Bandla, district Bilaspur, Surjeet Singh, Centre Head Teacher, GPS, Jhandwin, district Hamirpur and Smt. Hemlata, Centre Head Teacher, GPS, Rampur Bushehr, district Shimla, with traditional shawl, Himachali cap, citation, meritorious certificate, memento and a cash award of Rs. 25,000 each. Hira Singh Negi, Shastri, GSSS, Kanam, district Kinnaur, Bansi Ram Sumar, PET, GSSS, Sarkaghat, district Mandi; Ravinder Nath Pathak, Principal, GSSS, Dehlan, district Una and Shri Ramesh Sharma, TGT, GSSS, Nanaon, district Kangra, 2007 National Awardee with shawl, Himachali cap, citation, merit certificate, memento and a cash award of Rs. 50,000 each.
Chief Minister, Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal, the chief guest of the function, said that youth were the future of the nation and future of youth depends upon teachers. He further added that teachers should renew their pledge on Teachers Day to work on the ideals of Sarvapali Radha Krishanan in whose respect the Day is celebrated.
Himachal Pradesh Education Minister, I.D. Dhiman alongwith other prominent figures of the Department were also present on the occasion.
Raised in Shimla and originally from Mandi district, Disha wears many caps which includes being part of a lead team of a fast growing IT company based out of Chandigarh. Earlier Disha was associated with My Himachal and visits Shimla regularly.
