Shimla: Not satisfied with health minister Rajiv Bindal’s response to a discussion over the health services being delivered in the state, congress members led by leader of opposition Vidya Stokes staged a walkout in the Himachal assembly today.
The resolution moved by Thakur Kaul Singh, (congress) discussed the health delivery system, in which shortcomings in National Rural Health Mission (NHRM), vacancies of doctors and paramedics, appointments under Rogi Kalayan Samithi’s and other issues were pointed out by opposition congress speakers.
The health minister in his reply mentioned about doctors being recruited through walk-in interviews. He mentioned that in September, 100 doctors would be recruited and process for recruiting 1000 paramedics would be started. Since 2005 the state was receiving Rs 50 crore annually under NRHM, he said.
