Shimla: Struggling to keep the HPMC fruit juices brand afloat, the Himachal Pradesh horticulture minister Narinder Bragta was able to secure a deal with Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), today when Rajesh Tandon MD IRCTC accepted the state PSU’s proposal to serve Himachal juices on the trains.
After the meeting Bragta said that Indian Railways will serve HPMC juices to its passengers on prestigious Shatabadi and Rajdhani trains.
The decision was taken at a high level meeting that between Rajesh Tandon and Kashmir Chand, MD HPMC held at Rail Bhawan.
For a start apple, ditto mango and ditto orange varities of the juice would be served on Delhi–Kalka, Delhi-Bhopal, Delhi -Lucknow and Delhi-Banglore trains and later on it would be included in menus of other long route trains, said Bragta.
Sales of HPMC juices on all these trains would be started soon and that more HPMC products would be introduced on Indian railways once the juice products sales turns successfully, he said.
HPMC happens to a government company involved in fruit processing and is one of the pioneering industries to have introduced fruit juices in the country.
