Shimla: Himalaya International, a Poanta Sahib based company, is all geared to enter north Indian market with it milk based products, including ethnic Indian sweets.
After introducing our products in north Indian market, which includes Delhi and National Capital Region in August, by year end we will launch our products in the national market, Manmohan Malik, MD Himalaya International said.
The agri based export company expected domestic sales to touch Rs 25 crore in 2009-10 and have a target to achieve Rs 100 crore sale in two years time.
Products identified for the domestic market include, ‘fresh mushrooms’ made from imported spawn; zero fat and home-style full fat, yogurts and Paneer; and the company intends to introduce a new range of breaded mushroom appetizers for the first time in India.
“We will launch the same, premium ‘All natural’ sweets that we market in North America,†says Malik.
He claimed that test marketing of the products has been successful. The company has also test launched its packaged ‘Himalya Fresh’ sweets made from premium quality milk at Bharti-Walmart stores in Punjab.
He said that the company has been in the America and Canadian markets for over a decade time and has decided to launch its natural products like Himalaya yogurts, fresh paneer, Italian cheese, breaded appetizers, mushroom range, packaged Himalayan ethnic sweets like kaju burfi, milk cake, panjeeri ladoo, kesar badam in Indian markets. “Our products will have no preservatives, no addictives,†said Malik.
Himalaya International has signed two separate agreements with Bharti-Wal-Mart and the US retail giant Wal-Mart for selling its product and undertake cash-and-carry operations in a wide range of products at wholesale prices,” Malik said.
While Bharti-Wal-Mart will handle the retail business through their mini, major and mega format stores, Wal-Mart will look after business-to-business operations including supply-to-retail, grocery set-ups, hotels, restaurants and other catering joints.
The company has tied up with retail chains like Reliance, More,Metro Cash & Carry , Home stores, subka bazaar etc. for sales of its products.
Distributor network for Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamilnadu, Kerala stands finalised and the company is looking for business partners in Rajasthan , Madhya Pradesh ,Uttar Pradesh , Gujarat, a company release stated. The entire process would be completed by the year end.
