End-to-End Selection To Cut Students Costs For Undertaking Separate Exams
Shimla: YGen Management Consulting Services (YGEN), a Bangalore based concern, announced an innovative YGen Management Aptitude Test (YMAT) for MBA aspirants here thorough a centralized test designed for various management colleges to attract the most deserving students for their PGP and University MBA Programs.
Dipankar Choudhury, CEO YGEN told the media that for 15 rated management colleges in the country YMAT would be conducted for about 12,000 MBA aspirant candidates around various centres in the country which would help to select about 4,000 applicants.
Explaining the concept, he said that YMAT ensures that best employable talents and best private MBA colleges of the country are combined under one process.
The young Choudhury, who is an IITian and from IIM said “YMAT is a complete end-to-end selection cum admission process involving an Aptitude Test, Group Discussion and Personal Interview to be conducted on a single day, while the result is out the next day with centre wise percentile ranking and the admission process happening within 5 working days from the day of the YMAT process.â€
The initiative brings down the cost for the students. Colleges offering the courses come to the center near the students meaning, students don’t have to travel the length and breadth of the country to appear for the test, hold group discussion and interviews.
YMAT focuses on procuring the best talent pool of Management Graduates that can be moulded as the best employable assets for the Indian Global Industryâ€, informed Choudhury. For Shimla the test is to be held on the 31st May, he added.

The fee range for the colleges varies between Rs 4 to 6 lakh per annum
For the Academic year 2009-10, YMAT will be conducted in 15 Region specific centers spread across the North-East, West Bengal, Orissa, Bihar, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat.

The Selection Process starts with an Aptitude Test which comprise of Language Ability, Analytical and Logical Reasoning, Basic Mathematics and General Awareness.
All students appearing for Aptitude test shall also undergo the Group Discussion process. Students will be short-listed on the basis of their Group Discussion and Aptitude Score for the Personal Interview round. In the PI round the students will be evaluated on their career focus and behavioral traits from an employer’s point of view. A final merit list will be obtained based on the cumulative score of Aptitude, GD and PI.
Students will be allowed to choose any two colleges of their choice at this stage. The participating colleges include:-

Colleges shall be allocated as per the merit of the student and their choice of preference. Students can take On-the-Spot admissions by paying the requisite fee during the admission process or can book a seat under the provisional admission scheme which they must confirm within 21 working days from the date of the provisional admission. The YMAT process ends when the students receive the Final Admission Letter from their respective Colleges.
