Shimla: Stepping up the tirade against congress just as party president Sonia Gandhi is scheduled to hold her first election rally in the capital on Saturday, BJP has come forth with a questionnaire demanding answers as to why UPA adopted discriminatory polices towards Himachal.
BJP spokesman, Ashok Kapahtia told the media that the UPA government had discriminated against Himachal Pradesh during its tenure.
“We seek to know from congress president Sonia Gandhi as to why an incentivised industrial package announced by the previous NDA government was curtailed in the very first budget that was presented by the outgoing government,†he said.
Now that congress is out to woo voters, one can surely seek answers to the discrimination meted out by the central government towards Himachal for the last five years, he said.
The spokesman pointed out that prime minister Manmohan Singh had announced a Rs 4500 crore economic package for Himachal when he had come visiting in June 2005 to inaugurate the 1500 MW Natpha Jhakri hydro plant. “the announcement turned out to be an empty promise as no funds was marked to back the commitment, said Kapahtia.
