Kangra: On my latest visit to my village Thural, Distt. Kangra (Himachal Pradesh), I was deeply saddened to see the local rivers and creeks through which we pass everytime whenever we go to our village. Some people are selling everything (stones, sand etc.) in these rivers. Administration is fully aware of the illegal sand mining.
Yet it is apparently conniving with the sand mafia and abetting the activity. Every day dozens of trucks are loaded with sand, stones and the miners get a royalty. I heard most of these miners are volunteers of ruling party who got these contracts after the party came into power.
Even local MLA who is also a Minister of the Government is not taking any action against them. If this issue is not stopped on time, soon there will be no water in these rivers and we will see more calamities of nature. These people are destroying God’s creation (Mother Nature). Hopefully, readers would take some actions on this.
As a picture is more than thousand words, readers can judge themselves. There is hardly any water left in the river and whatever leftover natural resources are there, they are also taken out by illegal mining.
