Bilaspur: 62nd Himachal Day was celebrated throughout the state today.
Mrs. Asha Swaroop, Chief Secretary unfurled the National Flag at Balh Seena in Ghumarwin Sub Division of district Bilaspur today. Ms. Veena Bharti, an IPS Probationer commanded the parade.
She paid floral tributes to the freedom fighters hailing from the district and the Victoria Cross winner, late Bhandari Ram who hailed from the district. She said that out of 4 Param Vir Chakra Awarded for successful ‘Operation Vijay’ in Kargil to flush out infiltrators, two were won by Himachalis one Havaldar Sanjay Kumar hailed from the district of Bilaspur, thereby making Bilaspur the land of warriors. She underlined the need to carry forward the legacy and maintain such dignified traditions for the future generations to come.
At Shimla, Amar Singh Rathor Deputy Commissioner Shimla unfurled the National Flag.
At Una, Padam Singh Chauhan, Deputy Commissioner, Una unfurled the National Flag and took salute of an impressive March Past presented by the contingents of Police, Home Guards, NCC, NSS and Scouts in the district level function of 62nd Himachal Day.
